This tutorial will introduce you what Plex is and guide you on how to use Plex on WiiM devices.


Plex Overview


Plex is a media server platform that allows you to organize and stream your personal collection of media files, such as music, videos, and photos, from one central hub. Plex turns any device (your computer, NAS, or cloud storage) into a personal media server that can stream media content across your devices, including smartphones, smart TVs, and now, WiiM devices.

WiiM Devices Supporting Plex


Plex is now available on the following WiiM devices:

  • WiiM Amp
  • WiiM Amp Pro
  • WiiM Ultra


With these devices, you can easily stream your musics from Plex, taking full advantage of WiiM's high-quality audio streaming features.

 

How to Use Plex on WiiM Devices


Before You Begin


  • Ensure your Plex Media Server is set up and running according to Plex Media Server Setup Guide. 
  • Ensure your WiiM device is properly set up according to WiiM Amp Setup Guide, WiiM Amp Pro Setup Guide, or WiiM Ultra Setup Guide.
  • Ensure WiiM Home App on your smartphone or tablet is upgraded to the latest version.
  • Ensure the firmware of your WiiM device is upgraded to the latest version.
  • Ensure your WiiM device, Plex Media Server, and WiiM Home App are all connected to the same network.


Stream Music from Plex to WiiM Devices


  1. Open WiiM Home App on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Navigate to the Browse tab.
  3. Select Plex from the Music Services list.
  4. When prompted, log in with your Plex account credentials.
  5. After a successful login, click the Return button to go back to WiiM Home App.
  6. Choose a Plex music library from the list, and then click Next.
  7. Select the music you want to play and enjoy seamless streaming via your WiiM device.


Switch to Another Plex Music Library


  1. Tap the Settings iconin the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. Under Source, select a different music library from the list.


Troubleshooting
