The WiiM Ultra features four distinct audio input interfaces: the analog LINE IN, the digital optical (TOSLINK) SPDIF IN, Phono and HDMI ARC. Connect a wide range of devices such as CD players, TVs, PCs, or turntables, to your WiiM Ultra for high-quality playback.

Both the Optical-In and HDMI ARC support an impressive audio quality of up to 192kHz/24bit, ensuring premium sound delivery.

How to play audio from external devices:

  1. Open the WiiM Home App and select the 'Device' tab.
  2. Choose the device or group where you want the audio to play.
  3. Go to the 'Browse' tab, scroll down, and select the appropriate input option: HDMI ARC, Line-In, Phono, or Optical-In.

Enjoy exploring these features to elevate your audio experience with both ease and versatility.

Supported Audio Format for HDMI ARC and Optical Input:

The WiiM Ultra features an HDMI ARC and an optical input port, both optimized for stereo PCM audio. Additionally, the device supports Dolby Audio, which employs advanced technologies to enhance the sound quality of your favorite content by converting Dolby Audio into stereo playback. Please note that the WiiM Ultra does not support other TV audio formats such as Dolby Atmos or DTS.

To ensure compatibility and proper sound output, select PCM or Dobly Audio as the audio format on your TV or Blu-ray player settings.

Important notes on HDMI port:
1. To connect your TV to the WiiM Ultra using an HDMI cable, please select HDMI port on your TV or BD player marked as ‘HDMI ARC’. Please note that connecting to other HDMI ports will not transmit sound to the WiiM Ultra.

2. If you experience no sound after connecting the WiiM Ultra to your TV via the HDMI ARC port, ensure that the HDMI ARC output on your TV is activated.

3. Should you encounter issues with your TV not controlling the Wiim Ultra or the WiiM Ultra not controlling your TV, verify that the HDMI-CEC control on your TV is enabled.
4. If your TV doesn’t have an HDMI ARC port, you'll need to connect to your TV’s optical digital OUT port with the optical input port of the WiiM Ultra.

Choose Phono Stage Input Type:

The WiiM Ultra supports two Phono stage input types: MM (Moving Magnet) and MC (Moving Coil). The default setting is MM.

  • Moving Magnet (MM) cartridges are widely used due to their durability and high output, making them compatible with most phono inputs.
  • Moving Coil (MC) cartridges, on the other hand, offer superior sound quality with more detailed and dynamic audio, but require a specific MC-compatible input due to their lower output levels.

Please select the correct Phono stage input type based on the cartridge of your turntable to ensure optimal audio performance.

Enabling Auto-Sensing for Audio Input:

Auto-sensing allows the WiiM Ultra to automatically play audio from the connected input as soon as a signal is detected, provided the device has been inactive for at least 10 seconds.

Steps to Activate Auto-Sensing:

  1. In the WiiM Home App, navigate to the 'Device' tab.
  2. Tap on the gear icon to access device settings.
  3. Select 'Audio Input' and activate 'Auto Sensing' (Note: This feature activates automatically when a cable is plugged into the WiiM Ultra.).

By enabling Auto-sensing, your WiiM Ultra will seamlessly transition to input audio, enhancing your listening experience with convenience.

*Note:

When the auto-sensing feature is enabled on the WiiM device, and it is streaming music from a Wi-Fi source, the feature will be inactive if any of the following inputs - Aux-in, Line-in, Optical-in, Phono, or HDMI - are simultaneously playing music. To engage the auto-sense feature and switch to one of these inputs, the current source signal must be paused for a minimum of 10 seconds. Following this pause, a continuous signal from the desired input source for over 2 seconds is required for the device to switch to that input mode.
