The SMB Music Library feature now supports custom album artwork, which appears in the WiiM Home app when you browse or play music in an album.

Currently, custom album artwork is only supported in the Android version of the WiiM Home app. Support for iOS is coming soon.

This article walks you through the process to customize your album artwork and ensure it displays correctly.

1. Prepare the Album Artwork Image

Prepare an album artwork image that meets the following format and size requirements:

  • Supported formats: JPG /JPEG / PNG
  • Recommended size: 500×500 to 1500×1500 pixels
  • Recommended file size: under 1 MB for faster loading

2. Rename the Album Artwork Image

Rename the album artwork file using one of the supported file name prefixes below:

  • cover
  • folder
  • album
  • thumb
  • front
  • albumart
  • albumartsmall

For example, you can use a full file name such as cover.jpg, cover.jpeg, or cover.png, depending on your image format.

Files names are case-insensitive. For example, both cover.jpg and Cover.jpg file names are valid.

3. Place the Album Artwork Image in Album Folder

Place the album artwork image directly in the root of the album folder. Do not place it inside any subfolders.

Make sure to place only one album artwork image in each album folder.

The example below shows how the album artwork image should be placed:

4. View Custom Album Artwork

Now access your SMB music library in the WiiM Home app. You will see the custom album artwork when browsing the album or playing music from that folder. For detailed instructions, see Adding and Accessing SMB Shared Files in the WiiM Home App.

If the album was already open or playing, re-open the folder or play the album again to see the custom artwork.
