Introduction to SMB (Samba)
SMB (Server Message Block), also known as Samba, is a network protocol that allows for shared access to files, printers, and serial ports between nodes on a network. By integrating SMB with your WiiM Home app, you can take advantage of centralized and expandable storage for high-quality audio streaming, and offline access, enhancing the flexibility, reliability, and quality of your home audio experience.
All WiiM devices support SMBv2 and SMBv3, except the WiiM Mini, which does not support SMB due to memory limitations.
Benefits of Using SMB (Samba) with WiiM
- Centralized Storage: Store your entire music library in one location for easy access and management.
- Expandable Storage: Easily increase your storage capacity by adding more hard drives to your NAS or computer.
- High-Quality Streaming: Enjoy lossless audio streaming with a stable and reliable connection.
- Offline Access: Stream your music locally without relying on an internet connection.
- Playlist Support: Directly access and play .m3u8 and .pls playlist files.
Add a SMB Shared Folder in WiiM Home App
- Open the WiiM Home app.
- Go to the Browse tab, tap Home Music Share in the My Library section.

- Tap the
icon in the top-right corner of the Home Music Share page, then select Add Shared Folder at the bottom.
- Tap the
icon to add a shared folder.
- Enter the shared folder address and login credentials (if required), then tap Add.
Note: Login credentials refer to the username and password set on your PC.
Once added, the shared folder will open automatically, and you can start playing music from it.
Access the Added Shared Folder Later
After the shared folder is added, it will appear in Home Music Share for quick access in the future.

Support for Playlist Files (m3u8 and pls)
WiiM devices now support .m3u8 and .pls playlist files via SMB. You can now open these files directly from your shared folder to play curated music collections or radio stations within the WiiM Home app.
Add Custom Album Artwork in Your SMB Music Library
You can add custom album artwork to your SMB music library. When you browse or play music in an album, the custom artwork will appear in the WiiM Home app, enhancing your listening experience.
