This tutorial will explain the limitations and considerations of WiiM Multi-room music, created through the WiiM Home App.

Limitations

When streaming WiiM Multiple-room music using any of the following protocols, only one WiiM device (master WiiM device) will output audio:

  • Google Cast
  • Roon
  • LMS (Logitech Media Server)

This is because the WiiM Multi-room music does not support these protocols for multi-room playback.

Considerations and Workarounds

Consider the workarounds below to resolve the issue.

Workaround 1: Use Airplay for WiiM Multi-room Music Streaming

You can stream WiiM Multi-room music using Airplay. For detailed instruction, refer to How to Stream Audio with AirPlay on WiiM Devices.

To use Airplay for WiiM Multi-room music streaming, the master WiiM device must support Airplay. However, please note that neither the WiiM Amp Pro nor the WiiM Ultra supports Airplay.

Workaround 2: Create Goolge Cast Multi-room Music

If you want to stream Multi-room music via Google Cast, you need to create Google Cast Multi-room music instead of WiiM Multi-room music.

Follow these steps to create Google Cast Multi-room music:

  1. Launch the Google Home App on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Create Google Cast Multi-room music in the Google Home App.

For detailed instructions, refer to Creating a Google Cast Speaker Group: A Step-by-Step Guide.

Workaround 3: Use Multi-room Music in Roon

For detailed instructions, refer to Roon Multi-room Audio.
