If you're experiencing no sound while playing audio through the Optical Out port of your WiiM device, the most common cause is an incorrect audio output selection. This guide will walk you through complete troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue.
Step 1: Check the Active Audio Output
- Open the WiiM Home app.
- Go to Device tab > Device Settings
> Audio Output.
- Make sure Optical Out is selected.
Step 2: Check the Optical Signal
Disconnect the optical cable and look at the Optical Out port on your WiiM device. If audio is playing, you should see a red laser light inside the port.
Don't look directly into the port!
If no red light is visible, the port may be defective. Contact WiiM Support or your seller for assistance.
Step 3: Test Audio Resolution Settings
- In the WiiM Home app, navigate to Device tab > Device Settings
> Audio Settings.
- Select Optical Output Resolution.
- Lower the resolution to a setting your audio system supports (e.g., 48 kHz /16 bits) and then play test audio.
Step 4: Try Another Optical Cable
If the problem persists, replace the optical cable with another one. We recommend checking WiiM Forum for additional user suggestions.
