If you hear a humming or buzzing noise from your speakers when using the WiiM Mini’s analog AUX Out, the issue is usually related to one of the two causes below. Identifying the type of noise will help determine the correct solution.

Type 1: 120 Hz Hum or Buzz (Ground Loop)

This type of noise is typically caused by a ground loop.

Recommended solutions

  • Power the WiiM Mini using its own power adapter instead of plugging the USB cable into the USB port of your DAC, amplifier, or speaker.

  • If the noise persists, try powering the WiiM Mini with a separate power bank.

Type 2: 60 Hz Hum or Buzz (Interference or Cabling)

This type of noise is usually caused by:

  • Poorly shielded or faulty cables

  • Loose cable connections

  • Cables placed too close to strong magnetic or electrical sources (such as power adapters or transformers)

Recommended solutions

  • Replace the AUX cable with a well-shielded, high-quality cable.

  • Keep audio cables away from power cables and other electronic devices.

  • Try using the optical (digital) output instead of AUX Out to check whether the noise is eliminated.
