If you are experiencing the issue where your WiiM Home app is unable to discover WiiM devices through the Nighthawk Mesh router, follow the steps below to resolve the problem:

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Solution 1: Set the Nighthawk Mesh Router to AP Mode (Access Point Mode)

In AP mode, the Nighthawk Mesh router will no longer handle DHCP assignments, and the routing functions will be handed over to the main router. This helps avoid DHCP issues that may be present in the Nighthawk router. This solution is effective in ensuring that both the WiiM Home app and WiiM devices can connect properly.

Step 1: Access the Nighthawk Mesh Router's Settings

  1. Ensure your computer or mobile device is connected to the Nighthawk Mesh router's Wi-Fi network.

  2. Open a browser and enter the router's IP address, typically 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, and press Enter.

  3. Enter the administrator username and password (The default is "admin" and "password", unless you've changed it).

Step 2: Switch to AP Mode

  1. After logging in, go to ADVANCED-> Advanced Setup.

  2. Select the Wireless AP option.

  3. Check Enable AP Mode.

  4. Click Apply, and the router will automatically restart.

Step 3: Verify the Settings

  1. In AP mode, the Nighthawk Mesh router will no longer provide DHCP services. Make sure your main router has DHCP enabled to allow devices on your network to receive IP addresses automatically.

  2. Check if your smart devices, including WiiM devices and the WiiM Home app, can now connect properly.

Solution 2: Keep the Nighthawk Mesh Router in Router Mode and Manually Assign Static IPs

If you prefer to keep the Nighthawk Mesh router as your main router (i.e., maintain Router Mode), you will need to manually assign static IP addresses to your WiiM devices.

Step 1: Access the Router's Settings (Same as Solution 1)

  1. Ensure your computer or mobile device is connected to the Nighthawk Mesh router's Wi-Fi network.

  2. Open a browser and enter 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 to access the settings page.

  3. Enter your administrator username and password to log in.

Step 2: Enable Static IP Assignment

  1. After logging in, navigate to ADVANCED -> LAN Setup, and click Add in the Address Reservation section.

  2. In this section, you can manually assign static IP addresses for your WiiM devices. Ensure you assign a unique IP address outside of the DHCP range to avoid conflicts.

  3. Save the changes and reboot the router if necessary.

By following either of these solutions, you should be able to resolve the issue and get your WiiM devices working with the WiiM Home app again.
