This tutorial will guide you through the process of streaming music from Lyrion Media Server (LMS) to your WiiM device with Squeezelite.


Overview of Squeezelite


Squeezelite enhances your audio streaming experience by offering synchronized multi-room audio, support for high-resolution formats, and customization options. Its open-source nature ensures ongoing development and compatibility with various devices, making it an ideal choice for integrating with LMS. The seamless integration of Squeezelite into WiiM devices eliminates the need for third-party plugins, providing a streamlined connection for optimal sound.

Before You Begin


  • Ensure that your WiiM device is properly set up.

  • Ensure that the firmware of your WiiM device is upgraded to version 4.8.526553 or higher.

  • Ensure that LMS is installed and properly set up. You can download LMS from here.

  • Ensure that both your WiiM device and the device where LMS is installed are connected to the same network.

Steps to Stream Music from LMS to Your WiiM Device


  1. Launch LMS and Access LMS Web Control: This will open the LMS Web Interface in your browser.

  2. Configure LMS: In the LMS Web Interface, ensure your music library is properly organized and that LMS successfully recognizes and displays all tracks, playlists, and albums.
     
  3. Choose the Playback Device: Select a WiiM device from the list as the playback target.

    If your WiiM device doesn't appear in the list, please see Troubleshooting: WiiM Device Not Found for solutions.

    Note: To stream music to multiple WiiM devices, click Synchronize, then select the additional WiiM devices. 

     

  4. Select Your Music: Choose the tracks you want to stream.

  5. Control Playback: The LMS Web Interface lets you play, pause, adjust volume, or skip tracks. Your selections will stream directly from LMS to your WiiM device.


Troubleshooting: WiiM Device Not Found


Follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:


  1. Open the WiiM Home app on your mobile device.

  2. Go to the Device tab > Device Settings > Squeezelite.

  3. Verify the following Squeezelite settings: 
  • Squeezelite is enabled.

  • Your LMS server is selected. You can identify the correct server by its IP address.


If your LMS server does not appear in the list, tap to refresh the LMS server list.
