Overview

Parametric EQ (PEQ) lets you adjust frequency, gain, and Q to fine-tune your sound. Unlike Graphic EQ, which uses fixed frequency bands, PEQ allows you to choose the frequencies you want to adjust.

With Per-Source Parametric EQ, you can configure independent EQ settings for each audio source available on your WiiM device, such as Wi-Fi, Line In, Optical In, or HDMI ARC. This lets you tailor the sound of each source to your listening preferences, such as reducing bass or adjusting treble, without changing the EQ settings for other sources.

Understanding the 4 Core Parameters

The Per-Source Parametric EQ supports up to 10 independent bands per input source. For each band, you will configure four essential parameters as described in the table below.

  • Higher Q: Narrower, sharper focus.
  • Lower Q: Wider, smoother range.
Filter TypeDetermines how the equalizer shapes the sound around the chosen frequency. Available options:
  • LS: Boosts or cuts all frequencies below a chosen point.
  • PK (or Bell Curve Filter): Allows precise adjustments by boosting or cutting a specific frequency range.
  • HS: Boosts or cuts all frequencies above a chosen point.
  • LP: Cuts all frequencies above a chosen point.
  • HP: Cuts all frequencies below a chosen point.
  • OFF: Disables the equalizer for the specific band.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Open the WiiM Home app on your mobile device.
  2. Go to the Devices tab > Device Settings > EQ. For other ways to access EQ, see How to Access EQ.
  3. Select an audio source you want to customize, switch to the Parametric EQ tab, and select your preferred PEQ mode (Stereo or L/R).
    Tip: Choose Stereo to apply the same EQ to both channels, or L/R to adjust the left and right channels independently.
  4. Tune your EQ bands: Tap any band (1-10) to activate it, then tap any parameter field (Filter, Freq, Gain, or Q) to select or enter values manually.
    Tips:
    • Select a PEQ preset to use as is, or use it as a starting point and fine-tune the settings to your preferences.
    • When a band is selected, the corresponding numeric indicator will appear in the graph. You can drag the numeric indicator directly on the graph to visually adjust both Frequency and Gain in real-time.
    Note: We've integrated an advanced algorithm to prevent clipping issues, so high gain adjustments in the Graphic EQ or Parametric EQ won't cause clipping.
  5. When finished, tap Save to store your custom profile for future use or for other functions, such as Presets.
