When streaming music (audio) from iOS, MAC and Apple TV etc. device to WiiM Mini with AirPlay, there's regular dropout.
You can resolve this with the following steps:
- Check wireless signal strength of WiiM Mini on WiiM Home App
Go to devices tab > tap device setting gear icon > Wi-Fi status > Wi-Fi strength, ensure it states 'very good' or 'Excellent'. If not, please place your device closer to your router.
- Connect WiiM Mini to 5 Ghz Wi-Fi band of your router
If your router supports 5 Ghz Wi-Fi band, connect the Mini to 5 Ghz band instead of 2.4 Ghz band since it provides much higher bandwidth and has less wireless interference.
If your router has the same wireless name for 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz bands, you can ensure it's connected to 5 Ghz band by selecting devices tab > tap device setting gear icon > Wi-Fi status > switch on 5 Ghz only.
- Disable Wi-Fi roaming for WiiM Mini on the WiiM App
If you have a mesh network and have frequent audio dropout on WiiM, you can disable Wi-Fi roaming option on WiiM Mini by selecting devices tab > tap device setting gear icon > Wi-Fi status > Turn off Wi-Fi roaming.
- Place your AirPlay source devices such as PC, iPhone or Apple TV closer to your router
- Use AirPlay instead of legacy AirPlay on MAC
When you stream Apple Music from MAC, please use the latest AirPlay protocol with the following steps:
- Open Apple Music on your Mac.
- To the right of the volume slider in Apple Music, click AirPlay
. - Click each WiiM Mini that you want to play the current audio to.
