• What exactly is Airtime fairness?

Most routers these days have an option to turn on the AirTime Fairness setting. But what does it mean, and how does it work?

AirTime Fairness is a setting that ensures that each device on the network has equal access to the network’s ‘airtime’.

This means that they should get equal internet performance. No matter how good the device’s hardware, operating system, or signal strength is, Airtime Fairness ensures a fair share.

  • Issue

When the option is on, WiiM Home App has difficulty to find the device connected to the same network. Also, it may also have the audio dropout during music streaming due to the insuffcient bandwidth allocated from the router.

  • How to turn it off?
  1. Log into the router.
  2. Navigate to Wireless > Professional.
  3. Disable Airtime Fairness for both 2.4 and 5GHz bands.
