The WiiM Home app now features Android Widget and Lock Screen Control to simplify your music control. With this feature, you can control music playback directly from the lock screen and notification panel, without opening the app. In this tutorial, we will guide you through how to use this feature.

How to Use Android Widget and Lock Screen Control


While playing music from the WiiM Home app, you can control playback directly from the lock screen and notification panel. 


Scenario 1: From the Lock Screen


If your Android device is locked, simply tap the screen to view music information, control playback (e.g., Play/Pause, Next, Previous) and adjust volumes. You can also tap the widget to quickly open the WiiM Home app for more controls.


Scenario 2: From the Notification Panel


If your Android device is unlocked, swipe down from the top of the screen to access the notification panel. From there, you can view music information, control playback (e.g., Play/Pause, Next, Previous), and adjust volumes. You can also tap the widget to quickly open the WiiM Home app for more controls. 


Limitations


While the Android Widget and Lock Screen Control feature offers convenient playback controls, there are a few limitations to be aware of:

  • It does not support certain music sources, including:
  • Chromecast
  • Spotify Connect
  • QQ Music
  • TIDAL Connect
  • Qobuz Connect
  • Bluetooth
  • AirPlay
  • Alexa
  • TV
  • Line In
  • Optical In 
  • Phono In
  • When the mobile device is connected to your WiiM device via Bluetooth, you cannot adjust the volume using the mobile device's volume buttons, regardless of the audio source.
