If you don't have a smartphone or tablet, you are still able to stream music by using a PC. This tutorial will guide you through the various streaming methods using a PC.

There are multiple streaming methods. Choose the method that best fits your setup.

Before You Begin

  • Set up your WiiM device and connect it to your home network.

You can use a mobile device (e.g., a smartphone/tablet) to connect your WiiM device to a Wi-Fi network during the Wi-Fi setup.

If you don't have a mobile device, connect your device to the network via the Ethernet port.

  • Prepare a PC and connect it to the same network as your WiiM device.

  • Install the WiiM Home app on your PC. You can download it here.

Method 1: Stream from Local/Network Drives via WiiM Home App

Using the WiiM Home app, you can build your music library from tracks on your local or network drives and then stream them directly to your WiiM device.

  1. Prepare music tracks in a local directory or a network directory.

Note: If music tracks are in a network directory, create a network drive on your PC for it. For instructions, refer to File sharing over a network in Windows or Connect your Mac to shared computers and servers.

  2. Launch the WiiM Home app on your PC.

  3. Click your WiiM device under the Devices section on the left.

  4. Click My Music at the top-left corner. The My Music page will appear on the right.

  5. Add your music tracks from the local drive or network drive using one of the following options:
      - Option 1: Right-click on the My Music page and select Add Folder from the menu.
      - Option 2: Drag and drop the music folder onto the My Music page.
      - Option 3: Click theicon to open My Music Settings, then click Add Folder.

NoteThe WiiM Home app automatically adds the default music folder on macOS (~/Music ) and Windows (C:/Users/<USER>/Music).

  6. Navigate to My Library section where your music is organized by Genres, Albums, Artists and Tracks.

  7. Select a track to play. The audio will stream to your WiiM device.

Method 2: Stream from USB/NAS via WiiM Home App

You can plug a USB drive into your WiiM device or set up a NAS (Network Attached Storage) in the same network, then stream music from USB or NAS to your WiiM device using the WiiM Home app.

Plugging in a USB drive is supported only on the WiiM Amp, WiiM Amp Pro, and WiiM Ultra.

Follow these steps:

  1. Plug a USB drive or set up a NAS in the same network.

  2. Launch the WiiM Home app on your PC.

  3. Click your WiiM device under the Devices section on the left.

  4. Click Home Music Server at the top-left corner. The USB drive or NAS will appear in the list on the right.

  5. Click on the USB drive or NAS and select a music track to play. The music will stream to your WiiM device.

Method 3: Stream via a Music App

Install a music app (e.g., Spotify, TIDAL, etc.) on your PC, then stream music directly to your WiiM device over your network.

Below is an example demonstrating how to use Spotify to stream music to your WiiM device:

  1. Play music on Spotify.

  2. On the Now Playing page, click theicon at the bottom-right corner and choose your WiiM device from the list.
  3. The music will now play on your WiiM device.

Similarly, you can stream music from any other app to your WiiM device.

Method 4: Stream via Bluetooth

If your PC has built-in Bluetooth, you can easily stream music wirelessly to your WiiM device using Bluetooth. This method offers a quick and simple way to connect without extra cables.

  1. Initiate Bluetooth pairing mode on your WiiM device.

  2. Turn on Bluetooth on your PC and pair it with your WiiM device.

  3. Play music on your PC. The audio will stream to your WiiM device via Bluetooth.

Method 5: Stream via AirPlay

AirPlay provides a smooth streaming experience by sending audio over Wi-Fi or Ethernet from your PC to your WiiM device.

Check AirPlay Compatibility

Refer to List of WiiM Devices Supporting AirPlay 2 to ensure your WiiM device supports AirPlay.

AirPlay on MacOS

For detailed instructions, refer to How to Stream Audio with AirPlay on WiiM Devices.

AirPlay on Windows

For detailed instructions, refer to Streaming audio to WiiM device via AirPlay with iTunes on Windows PC.

Method 6: Stream via Google Cast

If your WiiM device supports Google Cast, you can enable it to stream audio directly via Google Cast.

The WiiM Mini does not support Google Cast.

Currently, the Google Cast can only be enabled using the WiiM Home app on your mobile device, as the PC version does not yet support this setting.

There are several ways to use Google Cast, such as using a compatible music app (e.g., Qobuz) or the Google Chrome browser. Here are two examples:

Example 1: Stream from Qobuz via Google Cast

  1. Play music on Qobuz.

  2. On the Now Playing page, click theicon at the bottom-right corner and choose your WiiM device from the list.

  3. The music will now play on your WiiM device.

Example 2: Stream from Google Chrome via Google Cast

  1. Play online music in the Google Chrome browser.

  2. Click three-dot icon () at the top-right corner.

  3. Navigate to the Cast, save, and share > Cast ... option.

  4. Select your WiiM device from the list. The music will play on your WiiM device.

Method 7: Stream from an External Audio Device

Connect an external audio device (e.g., a CD player, TV, etc.) to your WiiM device to stream music from the source device.

Below is an example demonstrating how to stream music from a CD player to your WiiM device:

  1. Connect a CD player to your WiiM device's Line In interface using a RCA cable.
  2. Open the WiiM Home app and select the Audio Input Source as Line In for your WiiM device.

  3. Play music on the CD player, and the audio will stream to your WiiM device.

Similarly, you can connect an external audio device to your WiiM device via another input interface.
