The WiiM Home app for iOS now features a Now Playing widget, giving you quick and streamlined control of your music. This tutorial will guide you through using this widget for a seamless music experience.


How to Use Now Playing Widget


You can access the Now Playing widget in different ways, depending on whether your iOS device is locked or unlocked, as well as your preferences. Once opened, you can use it to control music playback.


Scenario 1: From Lock Screen


When your iOS device is locked, simply tap the screen to open the Now Playing widget. Then, you can see the music information and control playback (e.g., Play/Pause, Next, Previous).



Scenario 2: From Home Screen


When the WiiM Home app is working in background and the iOS device is not locked, swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Now Playing widget. Then, you can see the music information and control playback (e.g., Play/Pause, Next, Previous).



Scenario 3: From Control Center


You can always open the Now Playing widget from Control Center on your iOS device, whether the device is locked or unlocked. Simply swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen. Then, you can see the music information and control playback (e.g., Play/Pause, Next, Previous).



Limitations


While the Now Playing widget offers convenient playback controls, there are a few limitations to be aware of:


  • AirPlay is not supported.
    You cannot stream the current playback to other devices via AirPlaydirectly from the Now Playing widget.

  • Third-party music apps/sources are not supported.
    The Now Playing widget does not support third-party playback sources, such as:
  • Spotify Connect
  • TIDAL Connect
  • Roon
  • Squeezelite
  • Chromecast
  • Soundtrack
  • Bluetooth
  • AirPlay
  • Alexa
