When used with your Apple TV, WiiM Amp Pro and WiiM Ultra support playback of both Dolby Digital Audio (AC-3) and PCM formats, while WiiM Amp supports playback only in PCM format.
There are three options to connect your WiiM device to your Apple TV.
Before You Begin
- Ensure your Apple TV is set up and connected to your TV according to Apple TV User Guide, specific to your tvOS version.
- Ensure your WiiM device is properly set up according to WiiM Amp Setup Guide, WiiM Amp Pro Setup Guide, or WiiM Ultra Setup Guide.
Option 1: Connect to Your Apple TV via HDMI ARC/eARC Ports
Use an HDMI cable to connect the HDMI ARC port on your WiiM device to the HDMI ARC/eARC port on your TV.
- Set your TV's audio output to select your WiiM device.
- If your device is WiiM Ultra or WiiM Amp Pro, audio format adjustments are usually unnecessary. However, if playback issues occur, change the audio format on your Apple TV to Stereo to output PCM format audio.
- If your WiiM device is WiiM Amp, go to Settings > Video and Audio > Audio Format on your Apple TV, select Change Format and then choose Stereo to output PCM format audio.
Option 2: Connect to Your Apple TV via Optical Ports
- Use an optical cable to connect the Optical-In port on your WiiM device to the Optical-Out port on your TV.
- Set your TV's audio output to select your WiiM device.
- If your device is WiiM Ultra or WiiM Amp Pro, audio format adjustments are usually unnecessary. However, if playback issues occur, change the audio format on your Apple TV to Stereo to output PCM format audio.
- If your WiiM device is WiiM Amp, go to Settings > Video and Audio > Audio Format on your Apple TV, select Change Format and then choose Stereo to output PCM format audio.
Option 3: Connect to Your Apple TV via AirPlay (Only Valid for WiiM Amp)
- Ensure your Apple TV and your WiiM Amp are connected to the same network.
- Go to Settings > Video and Audio > Audio Output on your Apple TV, select your WiiM Amp.
