Siri offers a hands-free way to control your music playback on WiiM devices, making it easier than ever to enjoy your favorite tunes. This tutorial will walk you through the steps to play music and control playback on your WiiM device by using Apple's Siri voice assistant.

Set Up Your WiiM Device in the Home App


Before using the Siri, you need to set up your WiiM device(s) in the Home app on an iOS device. For detailed instructions, see How to Add a WiiM Device to the Apple Home App as an Accessory.


Make sure to connect your WiiM device and the iOS device to the same network.

For the best experience, update your iOS device to the latest version.


Play Music with Siri


Once your WiiM device(s) is set up and added to a room, such as "Bedroom", in the Apple Home app, you're ready to use Siri voice commands on your iOS device to play music through your WiiM device.


Here are some examples:

  • "Hey Siri, play music in the Bedroom."
  • "Hey Siri, play [song name] in the Bedroom."
  • "Hey Siri, play [playlist name] in the Bedroom."


By using the commands above, all your WiiM devices in the "Bedroom" will play the same music simultaneously. 


Control Playback with Siri


Siri also lets you control playback functions like pause, resume, skip, and volume adjustments. Here are some Siri voice commands you can try:

  • “Hey Siri, pause the music.”
  • “Hey Siri, skip this song.”
  • "Hey Siri, play the previous song."
  • “Hey Siri, increase the volume in the Bedroom.”


If you set up multiple WiiM devices in a group or room, Siri cannot control playback on each device individually. Instead, Siri will control all devices in the group or room simultaneously.

To control playback on each device individually in a multi-room setup, you can assign each device to a separate room in the Home app and then use AirPlay to stream music to them. This setup will allow you to control each device separately using Siri in each room. Additionally, do not group any of these devices in the WiiM Home app, as devices within a group cannot be controlled individually.
